Urea, which is also called nitrogen (N) fertilizer, has a nitrogen content of 46%. Urea is made from the reaction between ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2) in a chemical process to become solid urea in the form of prills (1-3.35 mm in size) or granules (2-4.75 mm in size). Prill urea is widely used for the food and industrial crop segments, while granular urea is more suitable for the plantation and industrial segments.

Pupuk Kaltim's urea is marketed under the Daun Buah trademark for the non-subsidized sector, with white fertilizer granules and packaged variations including 2 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg, and 50 kg. Meanwhile, subsidized urea is distributed under the trademark Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company, which has pink fertilizer granules in 50-kg packaging.
